Kyle J. Mason
Executive Director / Founder
E-mail: kmason(at)northendfamilycentre.org
The son of an Ojibway father and Metis mother, Kyle grew up in the North End of Winnipeg in a single parent family. Kyle's family often struggled to make ends meet and often had to make use of food banks and other social programs.
After graduating from Eston College with a theological degree, Kyle joined the pastoral staff of a church near Winnipeg. From there he moved to Ontario to provide leadership to a local food bank as it grew from renting a small space to becoming the largest food bank in the region. Kyle served on staff at a homeless shelter in Saskatoon before he and his wife moved back to the North End of Winnipeg in the fall of 2008. Soon after his return, Kyle began to lay the foundation for the North End Family Centre, which opened its doors to the community in October 2009.
Kyle sits on national and local steering committees related to social justice, poverty, and aboriginal related issues. Kyle often speaks in churches, service clubs, and other events on issues related to social justice, God's love for the poor, and how anyone can make a differance. Kyle is passionate about motivating people to step outside their comfort zones and to serve people who can be overlooked in our society.
Kyle is available for interviews; he is also available for speaking engagements in church, retreat, camp, service club, conference, and college/seminary settings. You can contact him through our office or by email.
Kyle blogs here and here.
